Market Towns and City Trips

Crayke Cottages sits close to the popular market towns of Easingwold, Helmsley, Thirsk, and Malton, 15 miles from the historic city of York, and just over 20 miles from the spa town of Harrogate.

During your stay why not take a tour of York's impressive minster, castle, and city walls; treat the family to a trip around the world-famous Jorvik Viking Centre; shop at the award-winning food town of Malton; or stroll through the beautiful botanical gardens of RHS Garden Harlow Carr, in Harrogate. The choice is endless!

Historic Sites

North Yorkshire is home to some magnificent country houses, glorious formal gardens, impressive abbey ruins and beautiful heritage sites.

Crayke Cottages is ideally positioned for guests to visit nearby Byland Abbey, one of England's greatest monasteries; the extensive ruins and museum at Rievaulx Abbey; and the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden.

For guests interested in castles, stately homes, and gardens, take time to visit nearby Castle Howard and Helmsley Castle; Beningbrough Hall, with 8-acres of formal gardens; Duncombe Park, one of Yorkshire's finest historic houses; or Goddards, a hidden garden on the edge of York.

Coastal Attractions

Discover Yorkshire's unique coastline, home to many seaside towns and villages. For guests willing to travel further afield, plan a day trip to Scarborough, considered to be the very first Victorian seaside resort, Whitby, with its ornate cobbled paths and soaring gothic ruins, or Robin Hood's Bay, one of the most photographed villages in England.
