FAQ

  • How can I book a Property?
There are two ways to book our properties: The first way is to contact our booking agent Travel Chapter via the following link: www.holidaycottages.co.uk where you can select one of our 3 Properties by searching ‘Blossom Cottage – Crayke’, ‘Woodcarvers Cottage – Crayke’ or ‘Chestnut Cottage – Crayke’. If this option is chosen, please see the Booking Policy and FAQs on their website as these differ slightly in places to our own. The second way is to contact us directly via this website where we would be very happy to arrange matters and can provide a discount price to the normal rate. Please note that this can only be done during off-peak times.
  • Can I pay a deposit?
Yes, if your holiday is more than 12 weeks away you can secure your booking and spread the cost by paying a deposit of 1/3rd of the total price upfront. The full balance must then be paid no later than 12 weeks before the start of your holiday.
  • Do you offer holiday Insurance?
    No
  • What if I cancel?
If you cancel your holiday we will require written confirmation from the lead member of the party either by email or post. Upon cancellation, you may be entitled to a partial refund of the accommodation cost, although the booking fee and deposit are non-refundable. Please refer to the Booking Policy to see the refund calculation.
  • Can I bring a dog(s)?
Yes, we are dog friendly. If you are thinking of bringing a puppy (i.e. dog less then 6 months old), this MUST be declared to us at the time of booking and will need to be specifically authorised by us. Dogs are charged at £20 for up to 7 nights, £40 up to 14 and £20 for each week or part week thereafter. We will also consider other pets by arrangement. Please check with us at time of booking.
  • Are there any guidelines when bringing a dog?
We have strict guidelines for dog owners and they very rarely cause a problem. We do ask all dog owners to adhere to these guidelines (failure to do so may lead to you being asked to leave without compensation). Dogs must be under strict control at all times while on the property Any fouling must be cleared up without delay The owner must bring the dogs bed or basket for sleeping in Dogs must not be left alone in the property Dogs must not be allowed to lie on beds, chairs or sofas, and hair must be cleared up before departing
  • When are changeover days?
Our changeover day is on a Friday.
  • Can my holiday start on a day other than the designated changeover day?
It may be possible to book a holiday to start on a day other than the designated changeover day. This will be subject to agreement by us so simply select your property and dates through our enquiry process and we’ll try and arrange things for you. Please be aware that as prices are based on a Friday changeover, any weeks that cross over price bands may be charged at a higher price.
  • How do I book a short break?
Booking a short break is easy, and can be done either through our booking agent (holidaycottages.co.uk) or during off-peak times directly with us. Short breaks can either be booked for 3, 4, 5 or 6 nights and are priced accordingly. Prices are based on a minimum stay of 3 nights and normally start from: 3 nights – 80% of the property’s full week price 4 nights – 90% 5+ nights are at full weekly rental Any peak week breaks are charged at the full weekly price. If running over 2 different weeks, the price would be based on the higher of the two weekly prices. Please contact us if you need any help or have any questions regarding short breaks.
  • Do you cater for specific accessibility needs?
We do not cater for specific accessibility needs, however all of our cottages are ground floor only with the surrounding areas to the cottages being level, and therefore we find that they can be ideal for more elderly guests. Blossom Cottage and Woodcarvers Cottage in particular are ideal for elderly guests because both have ‘walk-in’ showers (please note there is a small step up into the bathroom of Woodcarvers Cottage).
  • Can I take an extra person / infant?
If the extra person exceeds the maximum occupancy of the property it may be possible, however this must be checked with us before the start of the holiday and there may be an extra cost.
  • What is the booking fee?
We charge a booking fee of £50 to cover the administration and processing of each booking.
  • What do we do with our bed sheets and towels before we leave?
We will leave a blue laundry bag underneath the sink in the kitchen and would ask that you strip all of the beds putting the bed sheets and towels into the blue bag before you depart the Property.
